 • Course Title: POCUS Abdominal Ultrasound .

• Institution: Ecoworld Class
• Course Duration: 60–80 hours

• Delivery Format: Hybrid (Online + Optional Hands-On Training)

• Language: English / Spanish

• Target Audience: Physicians, Nurses, Sonographers, Advanced Practice Providers

This program provides comprehensive training in point-of-care abdominal ultrasound (POCUS),
focusing on rapid bedside evaluation, clinical integration, and detection of common abdominal
pathologies. The course emphasizes emergency, outpatient, and hospital applications including
FAST exam, renal evaluation, hepatic disease, portal hypertension, and retroperitoneal
assessment.
Participants will develop technical skills in image acquisition, interpretation, and clinical
decision-making aligned with modern POCUS standards.

Program Director and Clinical Content Lead
Dr. José David Carrillo, MD
• Master’s Degree in Clinical Echocardiography
• Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound
• ARDMS Certified:
o Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
o RDMS – Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Carrillo is responsible for curriculum design, clinical validation, and alignment with
evidence-based ultrasound education and POCUS standards.

Lead Instructor – Abdominal Ultrasound

Dr. Cruz Simigiliany
• Specialist in Diagnostic Sonography
• University Professor
• ARDMS Certified in:
o Abdomen
o Breast
Dr. Simigiliany leads the abdominal ultrasound training modules, delivering structured
instruction focused on anatomy, pathology recognition, and clinical application. She contributes
to both theoretical instruction and supervised hands-on training

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
1. Understand ultrasound physics applied to abdominal imaging.
2. Perform FAST and E-FAST examinations for trauma assessment.
3. Identify normal abdominal anatomy using ultrasound.
4. Evaluate renal system for obstruction and renal insufficiency.
5. Detect hepatic pathology including steatosis and cirrhosis.
6. Recognize signs of portal hypertension.
7. Identify free fluid in abdominal and retroperitoneal spaces.
8. Assess major abdominal organs using standardized protocols.
9. Integrate POCUS findings into clinical decision-making.

Participants must demonstrate competency in:

POCUS EVALUATION CERTIFICATION
